With the lack of pediatric evidence-based pain management interventions for common procedures such as immunization, APS member and 2012–2013 Mayday Pain & Society Fellow, Christine Chambers, PhD, wanted to reach parents directly and empower them to advocate for proper pain management for their children.

In collaboration with the The Centre for Pediatric Pain Research, It Doesn’t Have to Hurt: Strategies for Helping Children with Shots and Needles  is an engaging new video aimed at healthcare professionals and parents. This video highlights a young child who advises her mother on tactics parents should use and avoid to help make the experience of pain management less stressful and more effective for children. The tips in the video are backed by scientific research.

This video is a great tool to share with your colleagues, friends, and family.
