IPS Honorary Membership Awarded to Dr Shelagh Wright
The IPS are delighted to award Dr Shelagh Wright, Honorary life-time membership of the IPS at the recent joint annual scientific meeting of the Irish and Northern Irish Pain Societies. Dr. Shelagh Wright (Chartered Psychologist, Autogenic Trainer, Retired Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife), is a tremendous advocate and supporter of the role of the clinical nurse specialist roles in pain management and has written and developed the IASP nursing curriculum into a textbook co-published by SAGE with IASP in 2015. The royalities of this book have been used by Dr Wright to support Nursing Education awards administered by the IPS over the past 8 years. Dr Wright has also made tremendous contributions to the IPS over many years including her support of the bursary programme, and dedication to the role of scribe for the annual scientific meetings of the society, producing articles such as these for many years for publication in the Irish Medical Times. In recognition of her immense contributions to nursing practice, and to the Irish Pain Society, Dr. Wright was awarded an Honorary Life Membership of the IPS.
