Niall Halliday, Joint Secretary
Biography
Niall Halliday is a physiotherapist who works in Beaumont Hospital. He qualified as a physiotherapist in 2008 after completing his undergraduate training in Manchester Metropolitan University. In 2015 he completed a MSc. in Pain Science and Practice in Queens University Belfast. His thesis for the MSc. was a systematic review of Multidisciplinary rehabilitation of people with Fibromyalgia. Niall’s has worked in musculoskeletal out-patients for the last 5 years and his clinical work in Ireland has focused on the rehabilitation of persons with chronic pain, biomechanical assessment and hand therapy. Niall has a strong interest in QI in relation to quality of patient care. Currently Niall is working as an advanced practice physiotherapist in Rheumatology and Pain management clinics. Niall has completed leader training in the Chronic Disease Self Management programme developed in Stanford University, California. In addition, he is currently in the process of starting up a community of practice for physiotherapists interested in chronic pain
Research interests
Rehabilitation of patients with chronic pain. Niall is currently involved in a projects focus on (1) evidence-based review of MDT Rehab in Fibromyalgia (2) prevalence of Central Sensitisation in OA (3) single case study research on physiotherapy treatment of CLBP.
